I have always been interested in photography, but only if I could do the darkroom work myself, and I knew before long that the amount of time, money, and understanding necessary for that wasn't worthwhile to me.

Digital photography gives me everything I want, without the pain. I enjoy working with the photograph itself but not usually to manipulate it into something else, just to get the feeling of the subject that was the reason I took the picture in the first place.

I enjoy telling stories with photographs and use the computer to do photo-journalism, combining words and pictures. Bert Weir and I went on a 6 week sailing trip on Georgian Bay and the North Channel in 2000 just after I bought my first digital camera and it provided me with the first set of photographs. Since then we have been to Newfoundland and then Calgary and the Rocky Mountains, each ending with another collection. We also built a straw bale house, a year long epic of construction and photography.
